THREAD

THREAD is, I think, part of the fabulous annual Leeds Light Night (which is actually 2 nights this year - tonight and tomorrow).

The group is South Asian Arts-UK and I think, going by the performance times and fabulous costumes on the poster, they're just practising here. The blurb says that "through sound, dance and light they explore the monotonous work both western and Asian women were subjected to in mills and factories, and how those workforces developed artists expressions to hold onto the human spirit while creating beautiful textiles for the masses".

So you've got:
- a lady on a cello. I do love the cello, all those long mournful chords are so soothing to the soul.
- a man with a kind of wooden flute. I can't really describe the sound but, in my head, it's what magic sounds like.
- the lady in black vocalising in harmony with the cello and flute - not singing, there were no words, just beautiful sounds.
- the lady in grey dancing. Truthfully, I've never seen anyone so graceful in all my life. Each movement precise within itself, yet flowing seamlessly into the next.

If it wasn't for the hunger pangs, I really could've watched and listened all night. Behind them are little fairy lights, and I'm sure the full display looks amazing now it's dark.

In other news, I went for a swim after work. First time in months. And I am a penguin again (this is a good thing, trust me).
