Ruddy Darter

I walked the butterfly transect for the twentieth time this season, six more weeks to go. Plenty of species around but none in large numbers. In fact I saw more emperor dragonflies (eight) than anything else. I'm not very good on the darters but I think this is a ruddy darter but equally it could be a male common darter.
