Titanic

On a trip to Liverpool to drive Hyundai's new Ioniq in both hybrid and full electric versions, we stayed in the Titanic hotel. It occupies an old tobacco warehouse overlooking the Mersey.

Although the doomed Titanic never actually visited Liverpool, it was where the offices of the ship's White Star Line owners were located.

At one end of the hotel building is a faithful reproduction of the Titanic's main staircase. My driving partner Gareth Jones - known as Gaz Top when he was a long-time presenter on the Way tv programme - couldn't resist doing a Leonardo de Caprio on the banister!
