Airthrey Castle
Previously the maternity hospital for Stirling. My mother gave birth to my elder brother here in 1956. Unfortunately, he was born with a heart defect and medical advances being where they were back then he died nine days later. If he was born today he would more than likely have survived.
With the arrival of the University to the town and it's development on the Airthrey Estate a Maternity Unit was built at Stirling Royal Infirmary. This is where my younger sister and I were born and where I gave birth to my barmy army.
Now with the development of Forth Valley Royal at Larbert the Maternity Unit is there.
Grateful for medical advances that save mother's and babies lives.
