Top Hat
A heavily overcast day.
We left our BnB later than intended, Dominique is a chatty sort - and really interesting.
We headed east along the coast road. Visited the American Cemetery - monumental, solemn, and a visitor centre that is very well done. Both this and the museum at Utah Beach have had massive support from very rich US donors, and it shows.
We then headed to Gold beach and Arromanches, and its museum highlighting the construction of the Mulberry harbour. Some feat. The museum is very different to the US ones, missing the lavish spend , but none the worse for that.
Then east to Courseulles and Juno beach, before returning.
The blip is taken at Arromanches. That is a section of sunken harbour in the background. And that is one of J's top hats - warm and woolly.
