Happier times...

Our hearts are aching. Yesterday my wee sister left us. I've been looking through photos of her on our Facebook feeds today. This one has our Mammy in the foreground, Gill in the middle, me at the back...we are at a friends 21st Birthday Party.

There were 22 months between Gillian and I and for as far back as I can remember it has always been Lorraine and Gillian and now that duo is no more and it makes me sad beyond compare.

Aunty Gill is cool was the mantra of the Barmy Army. The excitement of an impending visit palpable. Her Birthday teas stimulated frantic creative bursts to ensure that the StirlingReidos pad was decorated to an appropriate standard.

She was my best friend, my counsel, my partner in fun. 99.9% of the time we were on the same page...the same wavelength...a twenty minute chat on the phone setting all the worlds wrongs to right... in our opinion :-)

She is at peace now free from the pain and sickness that she bore with courage, dignity and strength...but oh what a chasm she has left that can not be filled.

Rest easy chubby hands. Lala xx

I am grateful for the 43 years we had together and for the love, companionship and memories shared.
