Thunder Strike

The forecast was that today wasn't going to be bright and sunny, so Mrs BB was happy to have a drive around the island. We headed for Corfu town and the Castle which is an icon of the island.

We made our way to the top of the fort and as we climbed the weather changed to claps of thunder and lightning. Mrs BB wasn't happy and headed down to the safety of a tunnel whilst I took in the views, oblivious to being struck. The airport isn't far from the town and the planes come in low to land. I watched the one in the blip photo and pressed the shutter just as it appeared to touch the tower. A sort of Cofu 9/11.

After a walk around Corfu town in the rain, we headed back to the car and drove along the coast road past our hotel. The rain was torrential and the flash flooding saw cars stuck in 18" of water, houses flooded and footballs from shops floating down the road. We were extremely lucky to make it back to the hotel after I found a side road past some cars that had got stuck on the main road in the flood waters.

The forecast is supposed to be okay tomorrow but changeable after that. I'm told that we are on the beach again tomorrow!
