When in Buffalo...
After all the exploring in Ashtabula Co, OH, we took a day off from sightseeing to visit with our two NY "Bills." First, we met my first cousin Bill/Fr. Joe, a Franciscan Friar, (in the photo with my hubby) who treated us to some wings at the restaurant that made them famous. The Anchor Bar was established in Buffalo, NY, in 1935. One evening in 1964, one of her kids was hungry and had friends stop by the restaurant looking for a late night snack. Not wanting to waste some beautiful wings to the stock pot, Teressa Bellissimo cooked them and added butter and hot sauce and served them to the hungry crew. The rest is history. I have to say I have eaten wings from many, many restaurants and these were delicious!
Later this evening, we met my hubby's brother Bill in Rochester, and he took us to a rather new Italian restaurant being run by his friends. After these two feasts, we should fast tomorrow. It was really great being with family members that we only see once or twice a year!
