Mystery hole

Before we went away I treated a wasp nest down a small hole behind some shrubs.
This entailed putting on a painter's overall, boots, gloves and the next door neighbours beekeeper's face shield and hat.
So attired it was out with the torch after dark to puff death dust down the hole.
That was just over a week ago.
I went to check it today and found that something has dug it up and broken up all the combs.
The hole is over a foot square and a foot deep!
Now what dug it? Fox? Badger? Scary.
