Mountain Witch Alder.
We have the Lodge booked for ourselves for the next few weeks as there are various maintenance jobs which need done. I began the day by mowing the grass and then moved on to the major project.
Over the coming few weeks we are going to replace the verandah and all the decking. So my afternoon was filled with loosening decking boards and prising them up. Had the boards been screwed down it would have been easy, but when the Lodge was built they were nailed down with annular nails (which have a tremendous hold).
All this activity meant very little time for blipping. I wandered round the garden and settled on the autumn colour from this Fothergilla major. It is a versatile plant having lots white bottle brush flowers in spring which have a vaguely honey smell. As you can see it is good for autumn colour as well.
