Some Days Are Just Packed
There were so many things to fit into today that mum nearly cancelled the first outing. I am glad she didn't, because even if it didn't have a picnic in it, it was great fun!
We went to the other, bigger canal called Göta kanal, that has lots of locks in a row and is usually very busy during summer. In October, it's normally deserted. Today, however, thousands of people were heading there. School children with orange balloons, hundreds of children, people and dogs, all waiting excitedly.
As we didn't have time to stay and wait, we walked upstream and two locks up, we saw it! A lifeboat, rowed by eight sports profiles, all the 190 kms and over several big lakes for charity, more specifically projects helping children. It's on TV and radio and raises around 4 million £ yearly, with other projects, this week.
Mum was excited to see legendary football keeper Thomas Ravelli and biathlon superstar Magdalena Forsberg. We put money in their collection tin before we went back to the car. I got LOTS of oh!s and ah!s from children. The upside of being fresh out of the Dog Oasis.
Then my very good friend B came round for coffee, and I got salmon and cheese from her and it was awesome! And in the evening we had another boot camp session in the darkness during Alice class. Phew!
