Day Thirty Three - Banos to Quito
We were up relatively early this morning. After yesterday's success of eggs and bacon I went for the same again and it didn't disappoint! Nice and full from a big brekkie, we finished the last of our packing and went to check out. We met our Aussie friends Marie-Claire and Oliver by reception who were also leaving and heading to Quito today. I said a last goodbye to my little kitten friend (who was totally unbothered!) and we set of towards the bus station.
It felt a lot closer when we first arrived, but we got there and bought our tickets to Quito leaving in 20 minutes. It was quite an uneventful journey. We've found out during our bus trips throughout Ecuador that they like the play very loud music or very bad Russian dubbed Spanish films without subtitles on the buses. Also, every time the bus comes to a stop, someone will jump on the bus trying to sell water or fruit or snacks of god knows what else! On our first bus someone was selling toothbrushes!!!
We arrived into Quito and shared a very cosy taxi to our hostel Casa CarpeDM. This was our second time here, it was so nice here first time that hopefully it will be our base for our multiple stopovers in Quito. Paul the owner had forgotten to rebook us in this time which was worrying as it was late and we had to be at the Airport at 4am, but thankfully we managed to get a twin room and he knocked some dollar off due to the mix up!!
In our room, we got sorted and then snuggled down to watch Bake Off! We then went back to place for dinner and shared wings, pizza and humous! It was really good!! We'd arranged to meet the Aussie's at the secret garden hostel for a drink before we left, and happened to bump into another girl, Joanna from Poland who we knew again from Montanita!! We had a quick drink and a catch up and then headed back, knowing with dread that we had to be up for 3:00am, but super excited for the Galapagos!!!
