Mist, Clouds and Wheat Stubble
Mist rises from the Klickitat River Canyon beyond this field of golden brown wheat stubble. The mist appears to mingle with masses of rain clouds, some tinged pink as dusk approaches. Mt. Adams stands hidden behind these clouds.
In one of my blips from this summer, Shadows Over the Land, one can see the demarcation line between the brown of prairie and the dark green of forest. In between the prairie and forest flows the Klickitat River. It enters the Columbia River at the town of Lyle.
The last 10 miles of the Klickitat River received a "Wild and Scenic" designation. "Selected rivers in the United States are preserved for possessing outstandingly remarkable scenic, recreational, geologic, fish and wildlife, historic, cultural, or other similar values" (wikipedia).
Getting ready for a busy week of travel for work as well as visits with friends.
