2016 Friday -- The Long Goodbye
I thoroughly enjoy these moments when the sky emotionally embraces the day with a goodbye that lingers. Saying goodbye is often difficult when an experience has been most enjoyable. Each autumn day is now shorter than the one before, so the goodbye is extraordinary.
This was the first Friday of the month, so at the campus this morning was the once-a-month meeting for all the new faculty, approximately 18 of them (that's huge). A bunch of us senior faculty have been asked to mentor these newbees and that was part of the function of the retreat two weeks ago. We've also been invited to attend the Friday morning meetings each month when we are available. So I attended this morning and found it to be very worthwhile.
I spent the afternoon recording student scores for the first quiz and the first graded project. Then I had emails to answer and a little prep to work on. The afternoon was productive.
