Pink morning

This pink cloud behind St John's church this morning is actually facing the sunrise that hasn't quite happened yet - this view looks towards the point where the last light vanishes in high summer, not the east. In the foreground are the new houses whose building seems to have taken for ever but which are now nearing completion. It was a glorious early morning here, but we could already see the clouds to the east which dominated much of my day; it even rained on us as we reached the outskirts of Edinburgh towards noon.

Tonight they suggest our temperatures may dip below zero ...
