Pumpkin Time at Childhood's Gate

Last week, I shared a photo of the seasonal gourd arrangements inside the Glass House at the Arboretum's children's garden, Childhood's Gate. Well, imagine my delight when I returned this week to find even MORE pumpkins!

The grounds are decorated with pumpkins and gourds and squashes and everything you can think of, in many different colors and shapes and sizes. They are stacked on poles, they are arranged in piles, and they are splendid!

One of the cool things I noticed while I was there last week was how well the oranges and tans and greens of the pumpkins and gourds matched the colors in the transformation canopy above the entrance to the garden. There are gourds to the left, gourds in the middle ground, and even a neat stack of them just outside the children's garden.

The Witness Tree (aka the Hosler Oak) stands just beyond the entrance, and its tippy-top leaves are showing off the first bits of red for the season. To the left, autumn leaves provide a colorful border as the golden morning light arrives at Childhood's Gate.
