Sanctuary of St Salvador, Felanitx
This is the view over the central plain of Majorca and to the cross on the adjacent summit, from the Sanctuary of St Salvador. The road up climbs from sea level to 510m over 4 km in a series of tight hairpin bends, gradients up to 15%, that's pretty steep!
I was very proud of myself for driving up there, it's a two track road with a rock face on one side and a drop on the other - and the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car I've hired!
It is a bit of a pilgrimage for cyclists too, (there are signed cycling jerseys framed and on display in the church at the top) so every so often you'd come out of a blind bend and find a cyclist struggling up the road in front of you. I went up in 2nd gear and Ali managed to keep her eyes open for most of the way!
The extras are of the map and of the statue of Christ at the top next to the Sanctuary church.
