Doesn't it feel that we're entering the next stage? A more permanent Blip than has existed for a long while now? Lets hope...
But on this red letter day when the site can begin to look to the future, there are rumblings. There is a veiling shadow that glowers in the East. The vultures are circling. You know of what I speak. The same mentality that a few years ago would have resulted in burning the image above because... IT HAS A BORDER!!!
Yes folks, the Blip Police are knocking on the doors once more. You know, the members out there that have nothing better to do than troll everyone's entries looking for images that don't stick rigidly to the rules and tell the teacher. The people that report entries that can often have an intensely personal meaning to their "illegal" use on a given day. The anniversary of any number of special moments, both happy and sad, in one's life that people want to share with their followers for whatever reason.
Don't get me wrong. I totally believe in and understand the rules of the site and believe that on the whole the point is to post an image from the day (otherwise I could have easily posted any old shite while I'm not actively taking photos) but I hope that when all is said and done a common sense approach to following the rules is applied by management. As much as people who may abuse the rules too often can be annoying to members so can the prissy tattle tales who don't look at the bigger picture of why a particular image may be important to the poster who occasionally takes a liberty.
The one rule that's so important on the site it doesn't have a number is "Be excellent to each other". Don't be a number. Be excellent and have a heart!
PS apologies to Tolkien for abusing his words in places in this post. Hope I haven't broken rule no. 2!
