Final Assembly
The 1st graders (aka Rata Team) sang two songs in Maori and performed one haka at the final assembly for the Cashmere Primary School. During their singing they twirled around these kai poi (I call them mini pom poms). Every grade gave a short perfomance and then the 8th graders were given their certificates of completion. Seniors no more! Next term they begin once again at the bottom of the academic ladder.
I am filled with emotion tonight. Thinking about all the change ahead for my kids (and me); saying goodbye to friends and teachers, knowing our paths will go in different directions. Most likely we will not see 99% of them again.
Oh how I hate good byes.
