Incomplete

It’s there for anyone
who might need a moment
to take the weight
off their feet,
to pause a while and eat
their lunch, to make
a call and greet
a friend, perhaps a lover,
maybe someone else’s
husband, wife, partner,
and arrange to meet
if they’re inclined to cheat.
But no one chooses
to sit on the seat
on this slightly unsightly
sunny side of the street.
