My husband bought this book...drawn in by 'How to be happy though married'.

There is an inscription inside, dated Christmas 1893, which made it irresistible.

The author's dedication is very touching...to the memory of his son who died aged thirteen.

In other news, when did men wearing jeggings become a thing? This is a trend that had completely passed me by until today...and now I have noticed it I'm seeing far too much of it ;)
