Mask

I visited Ron Mueck's exhibition in the Sara Hildén Art Museum. This was my second time, I saw Mueck's works already in the summer, but this was first time for Leevi. The exhibition was crowded - people are queueing to see those  astonishing artworks, because the exhibition will be closed next Sunday.

Ronald "Ron" Mueck is an Australian hyperrealist sculptor working in the United Kingdom. Mueck's sculptures reproduce details of the human body and he plays with scale. Mueck's works have never previously been exhibited in the Nordic countries. The exhibition at Sara Hilden presents ten sculptures. Mueck has worked as a sculptor for 20 years and has created 40 sculptures during his career; two works per year. And that's easy to understand, processing of those huge and detailed sculptures must take time. The sculpture in the picture is called 'Mask II' (2001-2) (77 x 118 x 85 cm) and it's believed to be a self-portrait.

Heavy clouds prevented potentially very good aurora show tonight, what a shame.
