Went to my second meeting with a local chapter of the Toastmasters (more info on WikiPedia), an international NPO that helps develop public speaking skills. They meet for an hour weekly, and each meeting has a designated Sergeant-at-arms, a Grammarian/Ah-Counter, a Timer, etc, as members practice giving speeches, and sometimes, like today, engage in Table Topics. Today was a TT workshop, and each of us was randomly asked to speak extemporaneously for 20 seconds on a particular topic. Mine was how I would improve the education system in this country. Let's just say that I have acquired a new level of respect for pageant finalists in the interview round.
We also did a round of telling a story in 20 second increments, with each participant building on the narrative of those preceding. It is amazing how long 20 seconds can be.
Afterwards, I found a host of sparrows in/on a bush at the Lexington Common (aka Lexington Battle Green). It appears to be a popular tourist and history buff destination, so perhaps the birds are accustomed to having people milling about nearby.
