Black cats, the symbol of bad luck or a witches familiar ...

No such bad luck for the Olympics which ended tonight, they have been a roaring success. Yes there are those who will moan about the waste of money, but let's see what the future will bring in extra tourism etc.

The closing ceremony was one big slice of cheese, with pop acts from the 60's through to the manufactured pop pap of today. They all have their little bit of British music history whether you like them or not.


A lot of hate was directed at the Spice Girls, putting the "talent" question aside, they sold 75 million albums in their time, which is an astonishing amount. So whether they could sing or not, they entertained a heck of a lot of people, so why not let them have their moment on the biggest stage of all. A lot of much bigger mega-stars decided they wanted no part of it, that was their prerogative!

I enjoyed it for what it was worth. It didn't live up to the opening ceremony, but then it never could.

I am not quite sure what I am going to do to fill that time I spent watching random sports like Rhythmical Gymnastics or Classic Wrestling or Modern Pentathlon, but the Paralympics is along at the end of the month, so that should go some way to sating the nations appetite for this once in a lifetime jamboree!
