Drove to Ullapool for the day and drove via Corrieshalloch Gorge on the Abhainn (River) Droma or Falls of Measach we have been stopping here for over 20 years and I never fail to be awestruck.. We drove down to Ullapool for a coffee and cake in the Ceilidh place
The cruise ship Astor was in the loch and what a change that made from the "Klondikers" the Russian Fishing boat fleet which used the Loch as a base in days of yore. The Cruise liner passengers were a bit different from the foreign trawler crews. They all seemed to have made their way to shore using their own method's . Actually there was a rowing gig regatta on and lots of good sailing pics to be had. The light did not seem right for scenery shots though the cloud was above the tops , the light was flat, we drove on across Assynt then down to Oykel Bridge where my son and I spent a fascinating hour watching the Salmon and tried photographing them as they leapt the Falls of Shin.
Up over the Struie and home with a fish supper in Nairn almost feels like a holiday
