St Marys, Banbury
Back to work and to loads going on! Worked late as I only have a short week till some leave over the next fortnight and need to feel a bit on top of things.
The weather has gone grey again! I think I have blipped this church before but it is such an unusual design. It was modelled on a Christopher Wren design and apparently the main building is a perfect square with a dome on top supported by classical columns. I initially posted the whole building which you can see here St Marys
but then decided I like the close up of the columns dwarfing the passers by.
There is a plaque in the churchyard that suggests Jonathan Swift got the name Gulliver from the tombstones here -it is an old Banbury name.
Back blips available if you are interested!
