Lys Hansen- international artist

Today is Lys Hansen's birthday.  Lys has been my mentor over the years long before I quit the Glasgow Herald to go to Glasgow School of Art.

Her annual Life Drawing class at Dollar Summer School has been a pivotal  experience for many artists.

So, what do you give an artist? Well I opted for making a book of photographs of her.  This photo is one   from her early years. 

After graduating from Edinburgh College of Art she worked for a time as a model- and she still has "presence" always making a colourful entrance whatever the gathering.

Tomorrow there is a party in her honour.

It is a surprise party.
