Where did I come from?

Not a great day today, rather damp and miserable, so I'll probably have an afternoon indoors after a quick visit to the recycling centre, aka the Dump. I may well do a bit more Family History research.

Not long ago I splashed out on a DNA test, which seems to be all the rage at the moment, hoping to find that I have origins in some far-flung corner of the universe! It was rather disappointing - 98% European of which 79% UK, and including 9% Iberian peninsula. This 98% also includes 3% Ireland and 3% NW Europe including Scandinavia and NW Russia, and 2% Italy and Greece! I was surprised to find 2% south Asia, but Ancestry.com say this is probably a mistake! Pity!
