Nymans Gardens

Alan's mum and dad are members of the National Trust, so we decided to take them to Nymans Gardens today.  After reading Kate's blip from last week and learning that they have guided buggy tours, I booked one for this afternoon as Barry struggles to walk a great distance due to his arthritis.

It was great, the buggy was waiting for them when we got there and their guide was very informative on the history of the house and gardens.  Alan and I could have joined them on the buggy, but we decided to walk so that I could take photos  - it didn't go much faster than walking pace so we could easily catch them up.

There was a fire in part of the house in 1947 and you can see the ruins here, although the rest of the house is still intact and you can go inside, which we did while Norma and Barry continued on their tour.  We caught up with them again and once the tour finished, we went for a bite to eat in the cafe, before taking them for a stroll in the gardens.  We were very lucky with the weather, as the forecast was for it to rain this afternoon, but it stayed away until we were ready to leave and came down quite heavy once we got in the car.

We were surprised that there were still a lot of flowers in bloom, and very little autumn colour - I've put a few shots in my extras including the section of house that's still intact.

Hope you're having a good weekend!
