The unexpected

Bella's grandparents from Arizona arrived on Monday for what they thought would be a week-long visit to celebrate her mother's birthday. On Wednesday morning, her grandfather, age 61, had a stroke. He's still in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital here. Bella's aunt flew up from Arizona, and her aunt, grandmother, and mom are spending as much time with him as they can. Children, of course, are not allowed in the ICU, so for the weekend Bella is with me, and she and her little brother will be with me tomorrow as well. We are holding her Tata in our hearts. Prayer and good wishes are welcome, and meanwhile it seems easier to be a fairy and a bunny than to be the fragile human beings we all are.
