Ivy and Autumn Colours

Lovely Autumn colours in Bourton this afternoon.
Lisa and Ken came to join us at the Literature Festival and we went to three great talks on Saturday.

The first talk was around the Special Relationship between the US and the UK  (70 years old). Is the magic still there or are we looking at a 70 year itch? Steve Erlanger of The New York Times, the satirist and screenwriter Armando Iannucci, the acclaimed novelist Lionel Shriver and Chatham House analyst Xenia Wickett debated what lies ahead with BBCRadio 4 Today presenter Justin Webb. With introductory remarks by the US Ambassador to the UK, Matthew Barzun, this was a fascinating debate and the four of us were gripped. Lisa and Ken are American so this was an especially pertinent topic.

Then Lisa and I went to 10 frocks that rocked the world, Coco Chanel’s Little Black Dress, Liz Hurley’s Versace Safety Pin Dress and Jackie Kennedy’s pink suit all featured.

Ken and Robin went to hear Jeremy Paxman discussing his life which they found really interesting.

It’s been another fascinating festival.
