A double birthday today...
...Auntie Joyce and Derelict Sunday - and they are in no way linked ;)
Tootled oop north for the day to see Auntie Joyce with her cards and presents, picking my sister up on the way. The main picture is on the quayside at North Shields - the rusty gate to one of the many derelict warehouses still waiting for the developers - and it completes my week of blipping dereliction!!
Had lunch at Davantis then took afternoon tea to Charlton Court, where Joyce now lives. She's had a bit of a rocky time just lately, but we had a lovely long afternoon with her, and she waved us off in good spirits. Her two oldest friends are calling in to see her tomorrow afternoon, so we left them some cake :)
We called in to our old family home before returning to Yorkshire - it has been rented out for the last seven years, so we were just checking up on its condition - surprisingly good - before deciding what to do with it next. The extra is the apple tree at the bottom of the garden - grafted with James Grieves and Golden Delicious and a third variety that didn't survive... looking lovely in the early evening light, I thought!
Home sns now, and more than ready for a glass of something chilled and the Strictly results show - I'll catch up on your journals later/tomorrow ;)
