Virtuoso
Students from all over the world come to Prades to take master classes from those musicians who come to play in the annual Pablo Casals music festival. Casals, probably the foremost cellist of the twentieth century, inaugurated the festival after he fled fascist Spain and settled north of the Spanish border in French Catalonia. These students are the virtuoso concert musicians of the future. The setting is pretty remarkable as Prades church has the largest Baroque reredos in Europe. The students give free concerts around the local churches and have quite a following. Certainly the audience today was very appreciative.
