Golden Pond

Remember the movie On Golden Pond? Henry Fonda starred ... And I once spent a lovely holiday beside a neighbouring pond in New Hampshire, Pine River Pond ... 

But I digress. The pond in this photo is my favourite subject in Benmore Gardens which this afternoon was half-covered in what looked like golden coins. Mr PB's theory was that the sheltered location and the consequent absence of wind meant that the leaves which hadn't fallen from the trees until the rain of the past couple of days had all fallen on the pond instead of blowing away ...

I don't know, but the effect was rather beautiful.
