The LIFE of a display unit

The display unit is falling apart at the joints under the untidy weight of books and other paraphernalia.

I will have to take the books off and gently coax the bent chip board back into near original position as I can get. I know that due to the age and the lack of care afforded the unit during its lifetime, I will only achieve a cosmetic effect to presentation and function.
I also know that I will have to find another space to place the books so's not to put too much strain on the remaining and repaired joints of the old unit.

It will be difficult to find another accessible, safe and dry place for my books where I can still look at them ... not necessarily read them, but just look at them and remember the days when I acquired them.
