Kings Cross, our train for Edinburgh

A grand day. One of the best. Began the day walking up to Bearsted station, ended it in Edinburgh.

We're staying in Susan's sister's house in Balerno, south of Edinburgh, near the Pentland Hills while they're away in Australia.

An absolutely superb trip up the East Coast Main Line in lovely weather and great scenery all round, not just along the North East Coast. Travelled First Class using Two Together Railcard, which made fare very reasonable.

Drew into Waverley Station bang on time at 17.21, straight up the Waverley Steps and into the Guildford Arms for a pint of Orkney Island Dark, the off to the Gourmet Mash Bar for food. Eventually arrived in Balerno at 9.30pm and promptly set off the alarm trying to get in.
