Poole Lifting Bridge, Poole, Dorset

This bascule bridge on Poole Quay, very close to the town centre,  was constructed in 1927.  It will remain closed for repairs for several months more.

According to information from Wikipedia, "both sides of the bridge will be demolished and rebuilt, it will be expect to last a further 120 years after the repairs."


Fortunately the town's second bridge, the Two Sails Bridge opened in 2012, can cope with the traffic.
