Sherborne Pack Monday

I had never visited the Pack Monday Fair before - it was quite a revelation - many of the streets filled with cheapjack stalls . Lots of the regular shops were closed. Generally a jolly atmosphere! 
Originally it was called The Michaelmas Fair - it originated from the completion of the nave of the Abbey in 1490 when the workmen packed up their tools. It is now announced by a midnight procession of 'Teddy Roe's Band' playing pagan music!! ( have never heard it)
