Trip to London
Whilst I was skyping Emily last night and telling her about all of my social events and plans, she asked me when I stopped enjoying being indoors so much. I would often stay inside rather than go to various talks and events around St Andrews, instead having relaxing nights inside. There are just far too many exciting things to do here though - and I don't want to miss out on any of them!
Today I worked for the morning before heading to London on the train. It's only a 45 minute journey which is wonderful. I hopped on the tube for a few stops and then headed off to the mile end climbing wall to buy some climbing shoes. I decided that I wanted to make the effort and go to a proper climbing shop rather than a general outdoors one - the staff would have more experience and would be able to get me the best shoes. I was right about that - although I went into the shop with two pairs in mind (which were rated highly in reviews online) I ended up with a completely different pair. With every pair I tried on, I had to stand on a ledge and climb along, with the staff watching to see how the shoes fitted. This was so helpful - a shoe can be great in online reviews, but the shoe that fits my foot the best has to be the one to buy! I will post a photo of them soon :) I then went climbing and had so so much fun!!
My bike also arrived today. I picked it up from college and it was huge! I was expecting it to be small as it was deconstructed, but it was far too large to carry back to my room like I was hoping. So I dragged it to our common room, where thankfully Pete and Nick (who used to work in a bike shop) put it together in no time at all. I was still trying to understand the first paragraph of instructions by the time they were done. It is great to have such wonderful friends.
What a day! It's definitely time for bed...
P.S. I really like how this picture has the tube blurred but the woman on the left is still clear!
