The Baby Boomers

A wet walk across Hyde Park this evening to the RGS lecture. Tonight it was David Willets (one time tory MP and cabinet minister) talking about his recent book on the baby boomers and how they have stolen the future from their children. And should give it back.

His hypothesis is that the post war generation in the UK have amassed equity through property ownership together with decent pensions. Whilst the younger generation X and the millennial will have to work till they are 72 and never afford a home of their own. 

Gosh, it made me feel guilty. At least I'm not a buy to let owner - he took a shot at them for boosting their incomes even more at the expense of the younger renters.
