Warm-up filters in PP
This interior shot of three of my nieces at a birthday get-together on Sunday suffered from the usual cold colour cast typical to such a shot.
In film photography an 81 series warming filter could be applied at the shooting stage. For digital photography a white balance tool could be used in PP, but using info from here I have found an RGB triplet to simulate the warm-up filter. The process is as follows:
1. Add a new layer
2. Set the foreground colour to the hex value EBB113; this is a strong warm-yellow, far too strong to be a real filter.
3. Flood the new layer with the bucket tool
4. Set the new layer's blend mode to overlay and reduce the opacity (20% or less of max value will be a good starting point). This tunes down the yellow to an appropriate level, so adjust to taste. Some might find my solution a bit too strong, but it feels right to me.
