Abducted by aliens?

I had a hospital appointment this morning and spotted this pair of men's slippers in the car park surrounded by leaves and cigarette ends.

I wonder if someone had been having a cigarette break when he was spirited away by some mysterious being, an alien perhaps?

It could have course be The Invisible Man who had forgotten that his slippers were still visible.
