Day 294 of 366 - Quinton Pool!

The original photo was taken this morning in the Cheylesmore area of Coventry. The image is looking out across Quinton Pool. The history of the pool and the manor of Cheylesmore dates back to the time of Leofric, the Earl of Mercia and his wife Lady Godiva in the 11th century. Later during time of Edward the Black Prince and his Son King Richard II, the Pool became a part of a Royal Hunting Park that once covered a large part of the area. It is also said that Thomas de Quinton the Park keeper during this time gave his name to Quinton Pool which was the mill pool for Quinton Mill. The Hunting park along with the Pool remained in Royal ownership for several hundred years until most of the land was sold off in 1819 by the then Prince of Wales. The Pool and the small parkland area is all that remains now.

The photo was taken using the app Camera+ on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the picture. I cropped the image and applied both the Tonal Contrast and HDR Scape presets. I then boosted the Highlights and Shadows. After this I used the app Brushstroke to apply the Oil Paint 04 painterly preset. I then changed the canvas type to Cold Press. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Clarify preset, the Vibrant FX and a Small light vignette. I then applied the Leather frame.
