Oxford City
Today was my first weekend day in weeks that I had absolutely nothing to do and it felt great! About a week ago, I said to Steve that he was in charge to plan something for today and we would have a day out together. At that point, he didn't know Mum was coming down, so on Wednesday last week when I asked him if he had planned something, he knew Mum was coming and his reply - a great surprise lol!!
Mum chose where to go today, a selection offered of Bath, Oxford and London. Oxford was chosen as none of us had visited before and Mum had always fancied visiting (Inspector Morse used to be a favourite and was filmed there!) and Harry Potter was filmed there too!
We got there and had a wander around, took in the city and the wonderful buildings. I didn't really know what to expect, Windsor on a bigger scale, something along the same lines as Edinburgh perhaps. We were really taken in with the whole atmosphere, the architecture and the history.
We went on the city tour bus like "proper" tourists (!) and was very interesting to learn about the main parts of the city.
Steve and I enjoyed it so much that we have planned a night away at some point to go and enjoy the city over a longer stay than the few hours that we had today.
