A little surprise

I drove to take my mom to a doctor appointment today and as I was passing Green Pond, I spied this critter. I think it's a blue heron, but I'm not sure. I stopped in the road to take a photo but sure enough, along came another car. So I pulled over, got out of the car, and slowly and quietly walked to where I could see it. Luckily he/she didn't seem to mind my presence so I was able to get a clear shot.

It was a long day - up at 5 to get Mr M off to work, to work for me, then a 2 1/2 hour drive to mom, dr appt, visit dad in rehab, quick dinner, 2 1/2 hour drive home.

We had heavy rain all night and Riley was spooked, so he slept the whole night on our bedroom floor. Big baby.
