Flight of the ants

The warm temperatures have triggered one of the fascinating acts of nature as the queen ants leave their nest and head off to new grounds followed by many of their male counterparts. I saw at least 20 different nests getting ready to fly including a few queens. However I opted for this one to blip, the males emerging from a hydrant cover.

The guy across the street digging a hole in his garden clearly thought I was nuts as I knelt on the ground taking several shots of the pavement.
