SILLY SATURDAY 3
Last Thursday when we came on our walk along the meadow where the sheep live, the black one came walking towards the wire and accepted the fresh long grass we gave him. But suddenly he jumped high up and walked quickly higher up the slope. All the other sheep went there too and they walked in a row through the bushed to an other end of the field.
When we saw them come into the field at the other side again, the most amazing thing happened. The sheep were chased by a young wild boar.
They did not know how fast to run away in all directions and the boar followed now some here, now some there.
It was such a strange sight. I had started to take pictures.
We stood there in awe for quite a while. In the end the boar had chased the sheep into their open shed. There they stayed for some time, we did not see the boar any longer and then one or two sheep appeared out
of the shed and stood looking anxiously around or where they thought the boar had disappeared.
We had seen that the grass was grubbed up at a large scale. This had been done by the boar.
Today I suggested to Piet Hein to have a look again.
To our big surprise we found all the sheep in a steep part of the field and who was there too? The same wild boar, but something had changed, the boar did not chase the sheep, and the sheep were not anxiously or seemed exited by the boar.
I shoot a lot of photos and want to offer one for the Silly Saturday challenge 3.
In my guide I have found that young male boars when reaching one and a half year are chased away by their parents and start to live on their own.
Was this the case with this one? How had he come into the field and could he not escape again? A mystery to us.
