Sgwarnog: In the Field

Classic

The two best supported teams in League One met at Valley Parade. Sheffield United arrived as the form team, with seven wins and two draws in the previous nine matches, but still a point and two places behind the hosts, Bradford City. Bradford have been hard to beat but more draws than wins have seen some of their early progress stall, with a pack teams gathering behind them in the table.

United were the stronger team in the first half and took the lead through Billy Sharp, but City held in there and equalised through Billy Clarke. 1-1 at half-time.

Into the second half and the Blades took the lead again before the Bantams responded with two goals to take the lead for the first time. A few minutes later and it was level again, and although both teams had chances to win it a 3-3 final result seemed fair.

As pulsating, atmospheric games go this was up there with the best, and the quality of football was good too - at least one of these teams will go up this season.

Today's image captures the teams walking out. There was added interest for 8yo as one of her classmates was a mascot for the day so we were watching carefully to see which player he was accompanying on to the pitch.  Peer carefully and I'm sure you'll spot him..., unless he's behind the hand of the enthusiastic youngster in front of us.
