guided tour

Went shopping in Valreas in the morning and then Pierre and I drove to Montelimar in the afternoon to visit the maternity unit at the hospital there. We have a choice between there or Carpentras for the birth. They're both about an hour away (eeeek!). Montelimar maternité has all been done up and it's also got a neo-natal unit in case something goes wrong (hoping that won't happen, but at least it means that we're in the right place if it does).

We got a tour round the whole place with four other couples. The midwife who showed us round was lovely and responded to all our questions. They want to be in control on the day so she was quite dismissive of some of our requests which pissed me off a bit. Once we got to the end of the tour, however, we managed to speak to her on our own. She said that we can always ask whichever midwife is on on the day and they will decide but that it should be OK! We'll be doing a birth plan so hopefully they'll follow that, but if things have to go another way on the day, whatever will be will be.  

Dad had us round for shepherd's pie when we got back! So nice not to have to cook.
