Houses of Parliament

Went on a tour of the House of Parliament, led by the MP for Croydon South, Gavin Barwell. Very interesting and informative - he's a good guide.

You're not allowed to take photos of many areas inside - just Westminster Hall and the corridor next to it, and I've put some of these in the extra photos.

Inside the House of Commons, we were treated to an entertaining recount of an incident that had occurred during the days of Margaret Thatcher. This wasn't Gavin telling the story, but an ex-MP (David Hunt, now Lord Hunt of Wirral) and Gavin was dragged into it! David told us of a time in the Commons when Michael Heseltine had to be restrained by Jim Prior under the orders of Margaret Thatcher, after MH grabbed the mace and tried to attack a Labour MP, Dennis Skinner, with it.
